Capture School Year Memories2015 June 02
The end of any school year is filled with field days, concerts, projects, school trips, parties and many other activities, so once the last day finally arrives life settles back down. Even with all the craziness, it’s important to remember this milestone of your child finishing another school year. There are fun ways to document this achievement and create a unique keepsake in the process. When my own children were babies, I found some School Memories books on clearance that I was excited to fill in once they started school. I wondered if I would remember to add something each year and if I would keep with it for each of their 12 years. I am happy to say I was able to accomplish both and in the process, created a wonderful memento of their school years. I made sure within one of week of school getting out I would sit down with them and we would fill in the page for that year. When they were young, they would tell me what to write and when they got older, I had them do it. At each of their high school graduation parties I proudly displayed their book for others to enjoy.
If your children are just starting school the idea of doing something at the end of each year may seem overwhelming. After all, your pride and joy just started, so graduation seems so far off. But take it from one mom who has been there, it will be here before you know it. Here are a few different things you can do to document each year: STORE BOUGHT BOOK CREATE YOUR OWN LAST DAY PHOTO Take a photo of your child, leaving room to include text. Then add text about their year: TV Show, Books, Best Friend, Favorite part of school… Print the photo out and then keep in a scrapbook or hang up. Whether you create something elaborate or simple, the important thing is you do something to commemorate this special time in your child’s life.
